A Dose Of Hope
Planks
One of the most frequent prayer requests I receive is for restored relationships. When I pray for restored relationships I ask God to provide opportunities for planks. One plank here, another there, then another, and before long you have a bridge. Where there’s a bridge, there is the possibility of someone walking across it or meeting you half way.
A plank can be an email, a birthday card, a voicemail, a text, any opportunity to start communication or at the very least indicate that you are open to them, you remember them, you care about them. Every plank lovingly placed – without any expectation of receiving a response – is one more step toward reconciliation – even if it is still years away.

I pray that you will not miss opportunities to lay down a plank. Maybe it is, “I was wrong, will you forgive me?” Missed opportunities just make the chasm that much wider, that much deeper, that much more awkward to cross later.
Of course, the cross is the one plank that has been laid down – a bridge of reconciliation between you and your God! That bridge is complete. It just needs to be walked across! Any day, every day!
“Jesus replied, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the fist and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:37-39
PRAYER: Life and love aren’t easy, Lord. But don’t let me give up on them. You know who they are. You know how much they hurt me. Give me the courage to reach out today and lay a plank. Show me what and how I can do this today. Thank you! Amen.”
